The ancient Xel'Naga race created the Protoss race and helped to channel their psionic potential. As time went on the Protoss grew further and further apart from their Xel'Naga creators. The Protoss then began an attempt to sever their psionic link. The severing of this link was one of the greatest signs, to the Xel'Naga, that the Protoss had tragically lost the most fundamental element of their greatness. The Xel'Naga believed that they had made a tragic mistake by pushing the Protoss too fast and made plans to leave. The Protoss hearing of their departure reacted with a violent attack upon the Xel'Naga Worldships. The raging Protoss murdered hundreds of Xel'Naga but fended off the Protoss' reckless assault before they send their worldships into the trackless void. After the Xel'Naga left their were many wars between the tribes before Khas or 'he who brings order' developed the Khala, or 'Path of Ascension' and recruited many young warriors. His ranks swelled further when many Protoss gave up their age-old feuds to rally behind the ever-growing leigions of the Khalai. This marked the rise of the Second Age. The Dark Templar were banished by the Conclave and many years passed. Until the time when Tassadar, aboard the Gantrithor, led his fleet against the Zerg infestation of Chau Sara.
